We provide education directed towards the appreciation, care, management of horses, as well as showing that special needs horses, that can no longer seem useful in traditional equine related activities, can help people find new and better lives. Emotional healing & Growth. Horses that have priceless values. Located in the gentle rolling hills of the Western Prairie at the edge of the Bad Lands of South Dakota. We Rescue unwanted or endangered Equines and provide those that can not become sound enough for riding, or rehabilitated Sanctuary. The horses assist us with provided people, Behavioral modification, emotional growth & healing Programs for Children & Families. Both our Rescue, and breeding programs are essential and vital tools in out efforts to help children and Family. The unwanted equines help us open doors, they build a bridge for hearts that have been harmed. A bridge back to trust, back to Hope. The rescued "thrown away" horses, provide an instant "bond" with people, who have also become "lost", that have been taught they can not "trust" anymore, "Broken Promises". Together, horse & child "Teach" each other to "Trust" again. I believe there is no such thing as a "Mean or Angry" Child, or Horse. They "can" simply "Act" that way, as a result of being, or having been "Hurt". That "type" of behavior provides a safe place for them. "Distance" = "Self Preservation" We also raise APHA & AQHA horses. We raise 1 to a few foals a year. Our mares are never bred back to back. The breeding program, with the help of "video" photography, provides a visual retrospect of "mothers and babies" (Showing Children & Abuse victims that it is NOT them. The mares on video with foals show the same "Mothering" behaviors with each foal they raise. Some mothers, better then others. With the "help" of the horses, we can help people, children have a better understanding of both themselves, their feelings, and the world in which they live. We build self esteem, We match the "head and the heart" by showing people where the conflict is, what the conflict is. When the mind "knows" what is wrong and what is right by society standards, , but the heart ...was taught something else. The reaction behaviors, come from the heart. We set up interactions between people and the horses, allowing us to "read" the horses. We can show people a great deal about what is "really" going on, from the responses and behaviors the horses show us. We can tell what is going on within the hearts and minds of the children. Matching minds & hearts. They "hear" our Words, to what we are showing them, But the horses "Show" them, it's real. That, is real, when you have "lost faith" in "Words" This process, in time, builds the essential ideas about "ones self" that allow for a healthy, productive, self reliant, happy individual.
